Who We Are.
An introduction to Barbourne Health Centre, and the people who help keep your health in check.
About Us.
Barbourne Health Centre began in 1948 at Number 4 Shaw Street under Dr Griffiths and Dr Phillips. Dr Griffiths was well known for having a pet fox who used to travel with him to his home visits! The surgery then moved to 85 Ombersley Road under Dr William Macmillan.
In 1953, we moved again... This time to 30 Foregate Street.
We then moved to Berwyn House Surgery, 13 Shrubbery Avenue, where the GPs did extensive renovation works to turn the house into a GP surgery. Dr John Macmillan and Dr Lees were the main GPs at that time and were shortly joined by many other GPs, allowing us to expand our services. Many patients may remember this building and how lovely it was at the time.
In 2012, Dr Harris helped us move the surgery to where it is now, and we were renamed Barbourne Health Centre. The surgery was purpose built and has bought us and our services into the 21st century. We are very proud of how the surgery has developed and we aim to provide excellent care, help and support to all of our patients.
